Ruined for everyone by some of the people who lived there...
My elderly grandparents moved in to Charlwood Square when it was first built. Their flat was very nice and had free heating and hot water.
However the whole estate was soon ruined by vandalism and anti social behaviour. My grandparents became prisoners in their flat and had to put mesh on the balcony to prevent items being thrown in. The lifts were often vandalised.
I was often threatened when I visited.
My poor grandparents (who endured two world wars) ended their days in disappointment and fear.
The residents blamed people from elsewhere so new security doors were fitted which meant that only residents could access lifts and stairways. However the vandalism continued (as it was actually some of the residents doing the damage).
Basically just ignorant idiot thugs who will destroy anything for fun - then blame the state of the place for their behaviour.
